Having just celebrated another fabulous 4th on the streets of the Anaheim Colony Historic District, specifically Meghan Shigo's annual blowout on Clementine Street, I thought it might be fun to see how Anaheim did the 4th in years past. Here is a photo from the Anaheim Public Library's Digital collection (sponsored by the Anaheim Historical Society from home tour proceeds). The 1901 photo depicts a horse drawn carriage decorated for the 4th, and traveling down South Olive Street, with the old Hotel Del Campo in the background. Contrast that with Larry Torgeson's "float" on Friday, and we have come a long way....with the same quirky attitude. Did anyone get a photo of Larry's vehicle?
